I really need to start getting up earlier and doing the warm up because 2 laps around the track does not work when the workout is this hard and fast!  We did 4x800's with one lap recovery in between.  I pushed it harder and harder each time.  First 3 800's were done in 3:30 then the last one in 3:22, my legs were already jello!  Then we went out to the roads and did a 2 miles tempo run and a 1 mile tempo run.  I can't figure out my garmin to tell how fast those laps were but our avg. pace was 7:30, it even said the fastest time was 5 something, ouch!   I really want to go fast at St. George so I'll have to really up it the next couple weeks.  After that I want to do more long and slow races it's so much easier to go slow!

missed my ride this morning so I loaded up the kids in the trailer and one on his bike and rode for an hour.   I think one hr. going that slow with three kids equals about 30 miles!  It was hot, they were heavy and my 6 yr. old was slow.  Once again I should have just gotten a baby sitter, but i guess it is good for them to get some exercise too right?

My husband is gone to scout camp so I had to run around the block. 10 times equals 5 miles.  That way I can keep an eye on my house and listen for my kids screaming.  I did 5 miles and tried to keep it slow and easy.  I felt terrible-my legs are still really tired from Tues. workout.  I felt better and better as I went along so at least that was promising.  I'm racing Sat. so I just wanted an easy run anyway. Avg. pace was 9.

Damn those 20 seconds! Sorry for the language, I don't usually swear but "dang it" does not cover it!  I really wanted to go under 1:30.  Dang it to the big puddle of water I stepped in when I got off the bus in the a.m. and soaked my shoe!  Dang it to my small bladder that made me stop 2 times to go potty!   Other then all that it was a good race.

The weather was perfect, cold even just how I like it.  I even ran in a long sleeve for half the race.  I'd never done this half before and despite the poor organization, no food and crappy shirts it was great.  All down hill (except for one mile) and sooo beautiful.  I knew I had to stay under 6:50 the whole time and I did except for the hill and when I had to go potty.  I also got a bad cramp in my stomach at mile 7 and it slowed me for a while.  I cannot drink and try to run every time I do I get a stomach cramp.  When i trail race I carry a water bottle and just sip when needed and never get cramps.  I think from now on I will carry my own water.   I also really wanted water and twice grabbed gatorade instead, yuck!

My splits were

1.6:42

2.6:55

3.6:40

4.6:49-Felt great first 4 miles was even trying to go slow down the hill to save energy

5.7:14- Potty break

6.6:54

7.7:20- cramp in stomach-ouch!

8.7:21-Hill

9.6:54

10.6:57

11.7:01-slowing down, legs starting to hurt

12.6:36-realize I'm close to my goal so I go as fast as I can!!!!

13.6:30

1 mile warmup, 2 cool down-mostly walking-too painful to run. I was really going to not do any more half's if I got under 1:30. Now I'm mad and want to do it again, ahh!  Running is so addicting!  I had fun despite being all alone which was a bummer.  Great views, great music.  Oh well I really should be happy, it's only 20 sec. right!

P.S. I almost forgot a THANKS to Angela Lavery who let me run in her place.  Sorry RD who said I couldn't run (at 4:45 a.m. after driving down to Provo).  I did anyway.
