Ran the Poison Spider bike trail while my family 4-wheeled it.  I would so much rather run-even in the rain!  It was a beautiful day, perfect weather, sprinkled on and off, just enough to cool me off.  My Garmin stopped working but based on the book and my time i think I ran 10 miles.   My left knee was bugging me a little and my right ankle is bruised from some new shoes-hope they all heal up quick!  I wanted to keep running but I had to get in the car and help with screaming kids.  I love running in Moab, I always want to run forever because it's so beautiful!!

An easy slow 4 miles, I feel so crappy on Mondays!  I knew I had a terrible day of cleaning the house and car after the trip so I took it pretty easy.  My stomach is also messed up due to the antibiotics again so I didn't feel great.  I'll go hard tomorrow.

I slept through running w/ the group yesterday so I had to make up for it today.  I usually climb Tues. afternoons and lately after running I'm to tired to climb well so I just climbed Tues. instead.    I ran 10 miles of trails today well can you call the canal trail a trail, close enough.   I have been slacking on the liage and my race is almost here so I thought I'd do 10 today and 10 tomorrow and see how that goes.    I also have to run long on Sat. then time to taper.   My knees felt great, feet felt great still just kind of slow and tired feeling.   It took me 1:30 min to run 10 miles- ouch.

I gave myself 10 threshold miles because it was my threshold!  Got there early for the "warmup" which was faster then my normal pace, 3 miles at 8.30 pace.  Then we met with everyone and did 2 more 5k's.  First was super fast, limit Julie said we did it in 22 min, 7:40 pace (I think).  The third one- i was feeling yesterdays run kick in and my legs were tired.  I tried to keep up with Julie for the whole lap, it was a little slower around an 8 pace.   It was a good workout, it reminded me why I go to running group, to get my butt kicked!

Decided to sleep in and run by myself today.   Was up to late to get up before 6 a.m.   I ran my temple loop, 10 miles.  I tried to keep my pace under 8:30 and I was most of the time, under 8 all the way home from the temple.  My legs felt tired from this week but the temps were great and I was happy to be running.  This was a really high milage week for me, not for you other BBKers I know.   Excited to start tapering for my 50k in 2 weeks!!

I got into St. George, I don't know if I'm excited or not!!??   I may be so sick of running by October!  I rode my bike 10 miles today with 2 kids in the trailer.  Up to daybreak, around the lake and back.  Remind me to never do that ever again!  It was so hot and so hard!  A babysitter is so well worth the money.

I really have no idea how far we ran today.  I was in a time warp!  We ran on the track and I forgot my Garmin.  We just kept going around and around.  Some fast laps, some slow.  Felt kinda sick today, not sure why.  I just took it east, I'm going to try to do a long trail run thurs. to break in the new shoes.  Just a fun relaxing run with good company.  The stairs were fun too, thanks to Eric and Cheryl.

My alarm did not go off andI stayed up late (went to angels and Demons, awesome movie!).

So my punishment was a run all by myself, in the hot sun, and having to pay for a sitter.  I went 3 miles up 98th to a trail that went for about 2 miles then back.  I could have gone farther but a big dog scared me away!  I am getting scared for my 50k.  I did not train enough, not enough miles and now it's too late.  I'm feeling tired and slow and unmotivated and it's bad timing!

Did a nice mellow, road bike ride today.  Legs feel tires, so much for tapering!  I should have stayed in bed then did yoga but oh well it was such a nice morning.  Going to the swell for some canyoneering this weekend, not very restful either.

Ran the JRT with the BBK's.  Took it very easy, only 4.5 miles.  Felt great, nice to see everyone and hear about Ogden.  Walked half a mile with the dog and stretched when I got home.   I like taking it easy!  I'll do a short trail run thurs. and try the new shoes.

I got to try out my new LaSportiva trail runners today on the pipeline trail in Millcreek.  Lucky for me my Mom just moved to the mouth of the canyon, yea!  My shoes were awesome and trail was so pretty!  All the flowers are out and it smells like heaven!  It was so hard to only do a short run, I wanted to run forever!   Legs felt great and I'm excited for Sat.  My right knee was bugging me a little in a new strange place, above my  R knee cap.   i hope that goes away in a hurry!  I use to many exclamation points!

I'm leaving town for a couple days so I need to blog so I don't forget.   The race is over and it went well, better then I thought.  The course was hard though, everyone agreed it was a hard course which made me feel better.  I was in second till mile 5 then got past by 2 women who were flying down this scree hill and I never saw them again.

The weather was great, not too hot, overcast and windy.  Do not do this race on a hot day, there is no shade.  We took a big loop up over the oquires down into the valley and all around some dirt roads then back up and over down some canyon into Camp Williams.  It was a lot more walking/hiking then I would like, but it was too steep to run.  We gained 2,000 feet in the first 4 miles and lost it all by mile 9.  The hills were steep and rocky and the flats were out on hot, gravel roads.  i learned to run ultras you need to master the art of the speed hiking and shuffling.  Mile 18-22 were back up and over the Oquires again, ahh.  The views were amazing, the flowers were beautiful and we saw even saw some wildlife.  There was mountain lion poop all over so don't run up there alone!

I felt pretty good till miles 29 and then the pain started.  My toes, ankles, knees and hips all started to hurt.  From 28 down was all down hill but by then my legs hurt.  I had good music and met some cool people to talk to to pass the time.    I met a guy whos done several ultra who told me it's all about making your body to run when it does not want to.   He's right.

It was fun, I probably would not do that course again, although some people loved it.  The Moab or antelope 50k would be much better.   I can almost imagine running a 50 now, I'd just have to slow down even more.  I don't know if I want to run that far tjough, this may be enough.  100's no way!   It was fun, glad it's over, time to rest!

I do need to mention I really tried to carbo load all week and drink a ton.  I also had a good breakfast, and kept making my self eat and drink all day which really helped.  Besides the pain after mile 29 I felt good.  They had HEED to drink at the aid stations and I loved it,  I need to get some.  It was really good!  I carried my own water in a hand bottle carrier and it was great, filled the bottle at all 4 aid stations.

I tried an ice bath for the first time after the race and so far feel o.k. Only one little blister and no injuries, yea!
