Teton Circumnavigation Run WY.

Wow, what a day! 34 miles, 8,000 feet elevation gain, 9 hrs!!  It was the most beautiful run I've ever done, in a place that I love!  I gave myself a 36 because we got lost more then once and My Garmin was not working.  The trail is 34 miles but I'm just guessing on our 2 mile detour.  Getting lost on a  34 mile is a really bad thing!

We started late 8 a.m. at the Death canyon trailhead.  We ran a counterclockwise loop around the Tetons.   Death canyon to Jenny Lake (13 miles) mostly flat beautiful trail!  Up cascade canyon (5) miles, all runnable and sooo pretty.  Then we turned Left into cascade fork and up to Hurricane pass, sooo steep.  Lots of fast hiking through here, too steep to run.  There were lakes, waterfalls, streams and springs everywhere!  We would stop periodically and just fill up our camelpacks and drink away, nice cold, clean water.  I  can't imagine heaven being any better then this place!  From Hurricane pass to Buck mountain pass was long, windy, and steep.  I was getting really tired and kind of sick of running, we were only at mile 28 now so there was not really any choice but to continue.  Finally the summit of Buck mt. pass meant all down hill, yea!!  It was steep though and a killer on the tired legs.  The trail ran right on the edge of a huge cliff for almost a mile, So cool!  We reached Death canyon and knew we only had 6 miles left but they were the longest 6 miles of my life!  The trail was mostly dpown hill and flat but I was really tired.  I tried to just listen to my music and keep a good quick pace going.  We got to the car in 9 hrs. and 4 min.  It was a great run!  My longest yet and I felt it.   My last 50k had only 6k feet vertical and this had 8k which felt like a lot more!  It also took 3 hrs. longer, yuck!

I'm not sure I'm ready for a 50 miler yet.  We hurried to Jackson and ate lots of pizza and drove home.  It's sun. now and I feel great.  I'm not sure what the difference is but I'm hardly sore.   We definitely did not beat any speed records and that must have helped my legs a lot.  I'm trying to keep moving today and gets lots of fluids and food!

p.s. if any of you BBKers out there read this you all did awesome at Hobblecreek!!!!  and Kelli you'll be back soon!!
